Ram Gopal Varma has been fighting a lone battle strategically against the Andhra Pradesh Government about their stand against the tickets row. He is firmly against low prices decision of the Government. He has been to many TV studios voicing out his opinion. He even requested Cinematography Minister Perni Nani for an appointment.
RGV recently met Perni Nani, explained the problems that the industry will face with the low ticket issue. He asked, “How can a movie that is made with Rs. 500 Crore and a movie that is made with Rs. 1 Crore be forced to sell at the same price?”
After meeting the minister, Ram Gopal Varma suggested 4 possible options for the Government in this regard.
OPTION 1
PICTURE TIME in a technology includes a small truck which can move to any part of the country. In just a few hours they erect an inflatable theatre with all safety regulations intact..It is already operational in many states in the north
OPTION 2
CARAVAN TALKIES is a movie-on-wheels concept which can be played at villages for India’s rural population situated in interior areas.
OPTION 3
NOVA Cinemaz is about setting up movie theatres using pre fabrication technology instead of brick mortar and they can rent vacant plots which will make it considerably less expensive
OPTION 4
To encourage people to convert their available empty spaces like large rooms, garages ,unused godowns etc into mini theatres.
He has finally asked the Government to leave the pricing, no. of shows and timings of shows to the film industry.
