MLAs poaching case: Supreme Court strikes off bail for the accused

The three accused in the MLAs poaching case in Telangana have got a major setback in the Supreme Court. The apex court on Monday rejected the bail plea and ordered that the three accused should follow High Court’s directions. Ramachandra Bharati, Nanda Kumar, and Simhayaji Swamy challenged the Telangana High Court‘s order and applied for bail in the Supreme Court.

A division bench comprising of B R Gawai and Vikramnath refused to interfere in the high court directions. The judges stated that the accused can file a review petition in the High Court itself and there is no need to approach Supreme Court.

A few days back, BJP sought a neutral agency like CBI to take up the case but the court stated that the SIT would directly update the case findings to the High Court and there will not be any involvement by the Telangana government. Now, the Special Investigation Team has started questioning Srinivas, who is a relative of Bandi Sanjay and is said to be the one who booked the flight tickets for Simhayaji, one of the accused.
