Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today laid the foundation stone for the announced Airport Express Metro Rail project. The newly announced metro rail will be 31 kilometers long and it will connect the IT hub at Raidurgam and the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.

Telangana State government has taken full responsibility for building this project and has estimated an expenditure of Rs 6,250 crore. The express metro rail project will start at Mind Space junction and will pass through Biodiversity Junction, Khajaguda road, and touch Nanakramguda junction. A few of the stations in this project are Bio-Diversity Junction, Nanakramguda, Narsingi, TS Police Academy, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad and Airport Cargo station, and terminal.

Ministers KT Rama Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Ch Malla Reddy, Mayor G Vijayalakshmi, CS Somesh Kumar, and other officials participated in the program.

In view of the foundation stone laying event, certain traffic restrictions were imposed near Mind Space junction from 7.30 in the morning to 12 noon.
