Jagdeep Dhankar today swore in as the 14th Vice President of India. Droupadi Murmu, The President of India administered the swearing-in ceremony of the New Vice President. Jagdeep Dhankar succeeds Venkaiah Naidu whose term as the Vice President ended on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and Nirmala Sitharamaran were present for Dhankar’s swearing-in ceremony. former President Ram Nath Kovind, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla along with the outgoing Vice President Venkaiah Naidu too were present at the ceremony.

It is known that Dhankar was elected the vice president on August 6th after defeating Margaret Alva. Dhankar was born in Kitana village of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. He was appointed governor of West Bengal in July 2019. He secured 528 votes against Alva’s 182 votes in the election.
