A third massive earthquake of 6.0 magnitude hit Damascus, Latakia other Syrian provinces. This is the third such earthquake in Turkey after two powerful earthquakes in less than 24 hours. The earlier two earthquakes read 7.8 and 7.6 on the rector scale. The reports suggest that still hundreds of people are under the rubble.
The first earthquake hit the nation at night while many people were asleep. The first quake was centered about 33 kilometers (20 miles) from Gaziantep about 26 kilometers (16 miles) from the town of Nurdagi. It was centered 18 kilometers (11 miles) deep.
The death toll has reached more than 1,500 and the count is going to rise with many buildings collapsing in both Turkey and Syria.
