Ex-Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar has passed away. Vasanth Kumar has been undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Vishakapatnam. He was age 70 and was battling some age-related issues. He hailed from Poondla of West Godavari district and his mortal remains are being brought here.
Vatti Vasanth Kumar was a strong leader in the Kapu community and has a stronghold in West Godavari politics. Vatti Vasanth Kumar turned inactive since the 2014 elections. He quit the Congress party then but didn’t join any other party. He recently met Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and speculations rose that he might join Jana Sena but Vatti clarified that the meeting was just a formal one and nothing political.
Vatti Vasanth Kumar served as the minister in YSR, Rosaiah, and Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinets. He won as the MLA back to back in the 2004 and 2009 elections.
