After former US President Donald Trump stepped out of the White House, there were accusations about the leakage of secret documents. US media reported that Mr. Trump, 76, faces seven charges, including unauthorized possession of classified files. However, the charges were not made public.

This is Mr. Trump’s second criminal indictment and the first federal indictment against a former president. Donald Trump has hinted to return to the White House in 2024. However, Legal experts say the conviction does not limit Trump’s ability to run for president again. In a post on Truth Social on Thursday, Mr. Trump claimed that he is innocent and has been summoned to appear in federal court in Miami, Florida, on Tuesday afternoon, where he will be arraigned and hear the charges against him.

Donald Trump faces charges of a maximum of 400 years in prison and a $9.25 million fine if convicted on federal indictment. Mr. Trump’s lawyer, Jim Trusty, told CNN that the former president had received details of the charges and he revealed they include conspiracy, false statements, obstruction of justice, and illegal possession of classified documents under the Espionage Act.
