Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only team among the 10 IPL franchises, including the 2 new ones, that doesn’t have a captain. The new IPL franchises Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul as their leaders. Punjab Kings have appointed Mayank Agarwal as their captain. Kolkata Knight Riders have chosen Shreyas Iyer, the captain.

Only Royal Challengers Bangalore who haven’t had a leader before the auction has to announce. While there are many speculations that Virat Kohli is going to be named captain again, recent Daniel Vettori’s statement proved them wrong.

However, RCB has officially announced that their new captain will be announced on March 12th. The franchise’s official Twitter handle tweeted, “The beginning of a new era of leadership requires a BIG stage. Who is the captain of RCB for #IPL2022? Come find out on 12th March at the #RCBUnbox event on Museum Cross Road, Church Street.”

There are speculations that either Dinesh Karthik or Faf Du Plessis will be named the new captain.
