Team India has gained upper hand on the first day of the first test versus Sri Lanka. Batting first, India has got a good start as Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal managed to score quickly. Rohit fell to a pull shot, his favorite nemesis. Mayank Agarwal was trapped leg before.
The new number 3 Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli then tried to take the innings forward. However, Virat Kohli got out to beauty from Embuldeniya. Vihari too fell after a fifty. Shreyas Iyer managed to score only 27 and with useful contributions, India stand at 228 for the loss of 5 wickets. At this point, Sri Lanka might have thought they get a chance at that point in time but Rishabh Pant had other plans.
He played cautiously until his half-century and after that, he just went berserk. He scored 40 odd runs in just 24 balls. He took the spinners to cleaners. However, Rishabh Pant fell short of four runs on a well-deserved hundred.
At the end of the day’s play, India has scored 357 for the loss of 6 wickets. India might be looking to cross 400 while Sri Lanka will want India’s tail not to wag.
