Employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) held a two-hour-long protest across the state opposing the Governor’s delay in approving the TSRTC merger bill which will turn 43,474 employees of the TSRTC into government employees. As a part of these protests, employees went on strike from 6 AM in the morning to 8 AM disrupting services in the state.

The Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) which led these protests has called all its employees to reach the Necklace road so that they can hold protests in front of Raj Bhavan at 11 AM. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan tweeted that she is pained to know about the strike. She tweeted, “I am pained to know about the strike conducted by RTC employees creating inconvenience to the common public…I want to convey that I am always with them even during the previous strike I was with them ..now also I am studying it carefully because their rights should be safeguarded.”

It is known that the TSRTC merger bill was delayed for approval by the Governor and this led to the protests this morning.
