It is very well known that Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan welcomed twin babies into their lives just four months after their marriage. They have named the kids Uyir and Ulagam. However, the news spread like a wildfire, and there started speculations that the couple violated the surrogacy rules as their marriage is just four months old.
Surrogacy Regulation Act 2021 states that the couple should be married for at least 5 years before opting for surrogacy. With the speculations, the Tamil Nadu government ordered the probe into this matter and the affidavit, the couple submitted they stated that their marriage was registered 6 years back. It came in as a surprise.
There are more rules in the Surrogacy Regulation Act 2021. It states that the couple is eligible for surrogacy if and only if the wife is aged between 25 and 50, and the husband is aged between 26 and 55. It further states that the couple shouldn’t bear any child, biological or adopted. It also says that the surrogate mother should be a close relative of the couple.
In this case, the couple submitted that the surrogate mother is a close relative of Nayan who looks after her businesses in Dubai.
