Their last Super 12 match against Ireland ended up a rather one-sided contest. Taking nothing away from Ireland, who gave a good fight, the New Zealand team was just clinical.
They won with 35 runs against Ireland. NZ has an NRR of +2.113, the best in the World Cup so far. They have won three matches in five games losing one and another won washed away due to rain. New Zealand have now seven points which will be equal to that of Australia and England if the teams win their respective matches as well.
However, New Zealand’s superior NRR can confirm these things. One thing is for sure, they have one step in the semis and the rest is a mere formality.
