Pakistan’s ex-cricketer Shahid Afridi made some controversial comments in his interview with a Pakistan channel. He said that very few cricketers in Asia dare to retire very early, right at their peak. I hope Virat Kohli takes this decision when his career is on a high.
These comments came out after Virat Kohli caught his form once again and scored his much-awaited 71st Century in the recently concluded Asia Cup. In the interview, Shahid Afridi said, “Virat Kohli is a champion. For every cricketer there comes a stage, where you are headed of a retirement. That should come when you are on a high,” he said.
He added, “I believe, just like Virat started his career, he will end it in style.”
However, Indian former cricketer Amit Mishra has responded to the comments and took a dig at Shahid Afridi. “Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this.”
