India’s sensational tennis player Sania Mirza has announced her retirement plans. She has revealed that the ongoing 2022 season will be her last. The reason behind many Indian girls taking up the tennis racket, Sania Mirza says that her body is wearing down and it is taking time for the injuries to heal up.

“I have given it a lot of thought. It is not taken hastily. I know that this is going to be my last season before the tournament starts or even in December. I am also putting my 3-year-old son at risk by traveling with him so much. My knee is also not 100 percent fine” said the tennis player.

She made exit from the ongoing Australian Open in the first round. She paired up with Ukrainian Nadiia Kichenok and lost 4-6, 6-7. Sania Mirza reached new heights in her career where she became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam. She is a former World No. 1 in Women’s double. She has also got the career-best 27th rank in singles. Sania Mirza is 35 years old.
