In a high-scoring thriller where 433 runs were scored in the 40 overs, Mayank Markande shined with his line and lengths. He bowled 4 overs and only gave away 27 runs by picking up two crucial wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is exceptional as well. He started the innings with a wicket and maiden and ended up only conceding 29 runs in the end which is pure gold. Sunil Narine in the first innings bowled economically and only gave 28 runs.
Other than these, it is pure carnage at Eden Gardens. Batting first Brook gave away a beautiful start. Though Mayank and Tripathi fell early, Brook and Markram’s partnership shined bright. They scored runs at will and maintained the run rate.
Harry Brook trashed the pace bowling to all corners but struggled to score against the spinners. That’s when the likes of Markram, and Abhishek Sharma took over the scoring. KKR chasing 229 could only manage 205 despite being given tough competition.
