Team India has played its 1000th One Day International today and the result is in the favor. India Vs West Indies ODI series kickstarted in Ahmedabad. This is Rohit Sharma’s first One Day as full-time captain. Winning the toss, Rohit Sharma elected to field to take the advantage of the conditions.

Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna opened the attack and gave India a good start. Shai Hope fell early in the 3rd over and there is no looking back for India. Rohit Sharma rotated his bowlers to perfection. Washington Sundar’s double strike in the 12th over pegged West Indies back.

At one stage they were at 79 for the loss of 7 wickets and were looking at an embarrassing end. However, Jason Holder and Fabien Allen stitched a 78-run partnership to take the total to 176, which was not competitive but they gave the bowlers something to bowl at.

In Reply, Rohit Sharma batted flawlessly accompanied by Ishan Kishan. Rohit completed his 44th half-century in the process. He fell to Alzarri Joseph’s quickie after a fluent 60 in 51 balls. Though wickets fell regularly, Surya Kumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda completed the formalities and handed the team a 6 wicket win. Yuzvendra Chahal who took 4 wickets was adjudged man of the match.
