Royal Challengers Bangalore has named their new captain. It is known that Virat Kohli has stepped down as the captain of the RCB, where he served for many years. The unboxing event happened today a while ago and Virat Kohli has announced the new captain through a video.
“Happy to pass on the baton to my good friend Faf Du Plessis whom I have known for many years. Looking forward to an exciting season,” said Virat Kohli in the video.
Du Plessis will be the seventh captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Starting with Rahul Dravid, Kevin Pieterson, Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori, Shane Watson, and Virat Kohli have served the franchise as the captains. This will be the first captaincy assignment for Faf Du Plessis in the IPL. Faf has played for Chennai Super Kings since 2012. For the two years where CSK was banned, he played for Rising Pune Supergiants.
He was roped in by RCB for Rs. 7 Crores in the mega auction that happened a month ago.
