Director: Meher Ramesh

Music Director: Mahati Swara Sagar

Mega Star Chiranjeevi has picked yet another remake and this time is a remake that is eight years old. Bholaa Shankar, the remake of Ajith’s Vedalam released today. Let us check out the review.

Story:

Shankar (Chiranjeevi) lands in Kolkata and works as a Taxi Driver. He comes to the city with his sister Maha (Keerthy Suresh) and works to bring down the Human Trafficking that prevails in society. Why is he going against that? What happens in the flashback?? Is there any twist in the tale?

Performances:

Chiranjeevi tried his best to be at the top. He played a role that had all in it. Be it comedy, emotions, action, etc., However, the sad part is that these aspects didn’t work to the full extent and there is to be blame the director for this. Chiranjeevi performs sincerely and there is nothing special as we have seen Chiru playing such roles in the 80s and 90s. However, he tried to be younger and imitated Pawan Kalyan in the movie, which only worked for a while.

Tamannaah hasn’t got any important role. Her role with Chiranjeevi is a Love-Hate relationship. Keerthy Suresh gets a considerable role in the second half. She did well. There are a lot of small screen actors and they did fine. Vennela Kishore’s part doesn’t work well. Others are okay.

Technicalities:

Mahati Swara Sagar disappoints with his music. He has wasted a golden opportunity. The songs sound quite routine. However, he did make up with the background music. The cinematography is fine. The editing could have been better.

The writing for Bholaa Shankar is the biggest minus. While the first half gets confined to entertainment without going much into the story, sadly the entertainment makes the audiences feel bored. The second half is slightly better but there are cringe sequences that Meher couldn’t quite predict. The production values are alright.

Analysis:

Bholaa Shankar is carrying low expectations and how low your expectations might be, Bholaa Shankar is a wrong choice from Chiranjeevi. When you pick a director whose last film was released 10 years back and a film to be remade that was released eight years back, then there is definitely something wrong with the choice.

Bholaa Shankar is not the kind of script, Mega fans are expecting from an actor like CHIRANJEEVI.
