Kavitha’s writ petition: Supreme Court adjourns the case for three weeks

Telangana MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has filed a writ petition challenging the summons issued to her in connection to the Delhi Excise Policy Scam. The Supreme Court has taken up the case for hearing today. The Supreme Court tagged this case with the earlier petition of Nalini Chidambaram who opposed calling the women to the ED office for investigation.

Kavitha stated in her petition that as a woman, it is not ethically right to make her stay in the office up to 10 PM in the name of investigation. Kavitha further requested the Court to set up a court-supervised SIT instead of ED in the Delhi Excise Policy scam. Kapil Sibal argued on behalf of Kavitha’s petition.

The court adjourned the case for three weeks and in the meantime, both Kavitha and ED have been directed to submit their full arguments to the court in writing.
