Along with NASA, some of the prominent US government agencies will have the same ocean height in the next years when compared to the total rise in the previous 100 years. This rapid rise in the sea levels will bring more and more destructive floods in a more frequent manner. Therefore the coastal communities will now be in much more danger.
By 2050, scientists are predicting that sea levels surrounding the US will have an increase of an additional 10 to 12 inches. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has updated this report that the century’s worth of sea-level rise will be occurring in less than 30 years.
The resulting rise in sea levels will intensify storm surges, high tides, and wetland loss. A sea-level rise expert has said that history is repeating itself but it will be on a fast forward mode. People living in the coastal areas are already experiencing encroaching seas.
