The Canadian government wants to provide permanent residency to a large number of foreigners and the government is moving towards its goal. The government intended to welcome 432,000 new immigrants in 2022 and towards reaching the goal they have admitted 108,000 newcomers in the first quarter. Indians are top among the new immigrants.

In 2021, The Canadian government has granted permanent residency to 1 lakh Indians. A total of 4,05,000 were welcomed to Canada last year as permanent residents. According to the latest figures, the number of foreign students in Canada is 6,22,000 lakhs, of whom about 2,17,140 are Indian students.
