India has claimed the three-match one-day series against Australia with still one game left. It was a run-fest for India in the second match that happened in Indore. India posted a massive total of 399 runs by the end of 50 overs. Chasing an improbable total, Australia lost Short and Smith early in the chase. Since then, it has been an impossible catching-up game for the Aussies.
The rain interruption didn’t help their cause as Australia was asked to chase 317 runs in 33 overs. Warner tried his best with a 50 but he was adjudged LBW for an inside edge which he failed to recognize. Ashwin picked three wickets while others chipped in with wickets as well. At one stage, Australia was down to 140 for 8 but Sean Abbott’s fighting fifty extended the total to 217. As a result, India won the match by 99 runs.
But before that, India’s innings flourished with the brilliant centuries from Shreyas Iyer and Shubhman Gill. Suryakumar Yadav provided the required ignition to take the total to 399.
