The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to give a tribute to the legendary player Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The decision has been taken to retire his jersey No. 7. With this, no other player can pick the number for his jersey. Already, Sachin Tendulkar’s iconic jersey No. 10 has been given retirement by the board. MS Dhoni’s jersey retirement decision was taken to honor the services of the wicketkeeper-batsman.

MS Dhoni’s captaincy was instrumental in winning the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, and Champions Trophy as well. The reports are that the BCCI has informed the national players that they can’t pick No. 7 hereafter on the back of their jerseys. No. 10 was already off the list.

It has been officially confirmed that 60-odd numbers are officially designated to the Indian players currently. This means the debutante will have to choose from the remaining 30-odd numbers. The already designated numbers will be allocated to the players even if he not played for the team for a year or so.
