“Think where you stand”: the US on India’s decision of buying Russian oil

There are reports from a few days that India is going to buy discounted crude oil from Russia. When many countries are implementing sanctions on Russia’s oil imports, the decision of India to continue trade with Russia has irked a few countries. The US has responded to this issue.

They said that “India’s decision to buy discounted crude oil from Russia is not violated the US’s sanctions but think where you want to stand.” The statement was passed by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. “At this moment in time, when the history books are written, think where you want to stand,” he said pointing out to India.

India has been staying neutral in this war crisis. The White House has said a couple of times that India should change their stand. However, India on the other hand has been saying that they want peace and don’t support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “We are suggesting that the issue could be resolved by the talks,” says India.
