It is very well known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in the United States which is his first state visit. US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden hosted an intimate dinner at the White House. Both Modi and Biden exchanged special gifts on this occasion.
Modi gifted a special handcrafted sandalwood box to Joe Biden crafted by an artisan from Jaipur. The Sandalwood was supplied from Mysuru, Karnataka. The Sandalwood box contains a silver idol of Lord Ganesha, a diya, and ‘Das Danam’. Modi also gifted a copy of the first edition print of the book The Ten Principal Upanishads to Joe Biden.
To First Lady Jill Biden, Modi presented a lab-grown eco-friendly 7.5-carat green diamond. In return, Modi was gifted a handmade, antique American book galley from the early 20th Century from the Bidens. The couple also gifted a vintage American Camera.
Prime Minister Modi is only the third Indian to be invited for a state visit, which is only reserved for the closest allies.
