The extreme chill temperatures at the US – Canada border have taken the lives of four people who are said to be Indians. A man, A woman, a teenager, and an infant were found dead on the Canadian side of the US – Canada border near Emerson. India’s High Commissioner to Canada Ajay Bisaria has responded to this case and confirmed the nationality of these four people. He has said that it is a grave tragedy.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) found the dead in a field, Emerson, on Wednesday. RCMP assistant commissioner  Jane MacLatchy described the incident as “absolutely heartbreaking.” In a press briefing, MacLatchy said “What I am about to share is going to be extremely difficult for many people to hear and digest.”

The incident was reported that the family was on their own. MacLatchy has also revealed that they had not only faced the cold weather but endless fields, large snowdrifts, and complete darkness. The temperature is 35 below Zero degrees with snowdrifts. Currently, the work is in progress to identify the individuals. Also, in connection with the incident, a man named Steve Shand from Florida has been taken into custody regarding human smuggling.
