Basavatharakam Cancer Hospital Trustee Polavarapu Tulasi Parvati Devi has done many services for the relief of cancer patients. It must be said that Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s services in running the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital, which was built in the name of his wife Basavatarakam, are invaluable.

Polavarapu Tulasi Parvati Devi hails from Kanthamraju Konduru village of Duggirala mandal in Guntur district and gets settled in New York as a gynecologist. She is married to Dr. Raghava Rao, an orthopedic surgeon. They have a daughter and a son. After NTR’s wife Basavatharakam died of cancer, NTR decided to build a cancer hospital in her name. Tulasi Devi’s husband Raghava Rao also joined this resolution. With this, a world-class cancer hospital ‘Basavatharakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital’ was established in Hyderabad.

After the inauguration of Basavatarakam Hospital, Tulasi Devi established the Indo-American Cancer Organization in America. Funds were collected through this organization and sent to Basavatharakam Hospital. Apart from this, they also provide the hospital with the latest equipment used in cancer treatment. She has done many services as a founding committee member. Besides this, she also built a government school named after her father Karumachi Govindaiah in his hometown Kondur. She passed away on October 12th in New York after serving many people including cancer patients. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Basavatharakam Hospital Chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna Daggubati expressed their condolences.

In memory of Dr. Tulasi Parvati who did such services, a memorial block and a statue were erected in her hometown Kondur. Today (October 28) the idol unveiling ceremony was held with grandeur. While Polavarapu Raghava Rao presided over this inauguration meeting, the former chairman of Guntur Zilla Parishad Pathuri Nagabhushanam attended. The Chief Guest of Vyasashram Prefect Praverananda Swamy, Basavatharakam Hospital Director Kalpana, Prasad Chadalavada, Nageswara Rao, Krishna Prasad, and others were present.
