On the occasion of NTR’s birth centenary celebrations, NRIs living in North America (TANA) planned to install a statue of NTR in Lakkaram Lake, Khammam on May 28th. Even Jr. NTR was invited to unveil the statue which resembles Lord Krishna. Even the principal secretary of the irrigation department gave clearance for the statue’s inauguration.
However, Yadava organizations have pleaded with the court to stall the statue’s inauguration as it resembles Lord Krishna which is hurting their religious sentiments. Krishna Chaitanya Tripurani, E Prabhakar Yadava, and Bharatha Yadava Samithi have approached the court. The High Court has suspended the permission granted.
The Statue committee reacted quickly and made changes to the statue. They made modifications like removing the flute and crown and appealed before the court again. The decision regarding the changes is awaited.
