For the unversed, a dispute has been ongoing between the Kerala Film Producers Association and the top multiplex chain PVR INOX. The issue started when KFPA launched its own service provider named Producers’ Digital Content (PDC). The association wanted to screen Malayalam movies through its new Digital Content Provider and this move disappointed the multiplex chain.

In an aggressive move, PVR INOX has decided to stop screening all Malayalam movies till the issue is resolved. The issue about the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) has been addressed says the sources. This VPF will be charged by the multiplexes from the producers.

PVR INOX isn’t screening Malayalam films from April 11th and this sudden move was a huge dent for the Malayalam movies as they have been doing very well across the nation of late.

However, now the issue has been resolved. Industrialist M A Yusuff Ali intervened in the matter and settled the issue. B Unnikrishnan, General Secretary of the Film Employee Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) announced that the issue is settled. From today, PVR INOX is going to screen Malayalam movies all over again.
