Andhra Pradesh government has decided to go with the Ambedkar name for the Konaseema district despite the outage that happened in May. Protestors torched many vehicles that belong to state minister P Viswarup and MLA Ponnada Satish on May 24th after the government announced its decision to rename the Konaseema district after the revolutionary Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Despite the outage, Jagan hasn’t backed off. AP cabinet today met for the first time after the new ministers were elected and they have approved the change in name for the Konaseema district. Because of this decision, the district is on a high alert. A lot of Police personnel are patrolling key junctions of the district.
Police have prevented any sort of celebrations. Police have imposed 144 section and Police Act 30 is in place in Amalapuram and Ravulapalem. The Police have also kept an eye on the key leaders of the area to prevent any unwanted protests.
