The Indian government has today banned a total of 18 OTT platforms. The decision was taken to curb the online consumption of obscene and pornographic content in the country. In addition to these, 19 other websites, 10 Apps, and 57 social media handles were blocked by the central government.

The blocked OTT sites by the Indian government are Dreams Films, Voovi, Yessma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flicks, X Prime, Neon X VIP, Besharams, Hunters, Rabbit, Xtramood, Nuefliks, MoodX, Mojoflix, Hotshots VIP, Fugi, Chikooflix and Prime Play.

The decision was taken as it violates the IT Act, Indian Penal Code, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. It is said that the government has already given numerous warnings to these OTT platforms and websites but of no use. So the government has finally decided to ban these apps, websites, and social media handles.

Most of these adult OTT platforms enjoy massive viewership. One of these OTT platform apps had more than 1 Crore downloads and two of the others crossed 50 lakh downloads.
