Ahead of the 2024 elections in Andhra Pradesh, YS Sharmila has merged her recently formed YSR Telangana Party. Before the 2023 elections in Telangana, YS Sharmila opted out of the elections and gave her full support to the Congress party. At that time, she said that she didn’t want to split anti-incumbency votes which would benefit the KCR government.
Likewise, the Congress party formed the government in Telangana. Congress party has been negotiating with YS Sharmila to merge her party in Congress and finally, she has given her nod. Today in New Delhi, YS Sharmila accompanied by her husband, Bro. Anil Kumar has joined the Congress party. She merged her YSR Telangana. It will be a big boost for the Congress to have Sharmila in their ranks ahead of the 2024 elections. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi were present at this event.
The interesting aspect here is that YS Sharmila before 2019 elections alleged that the Congress heads were behind the death of her father YS Rajasekhar Reddy and they have tried to frame her innocent brother YS Jagan.
