Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has claimed an attack on a group of Congress workers in Tripura. Jairam Ramesh has claimed that BJP workers attacked Congress workers in Tripura’s Bishalgarh and Mohanpur.

According to Jairam Ramesh, the police was with the Congress delegation and the Congress workers had not done anything wrong.

According to him, BJP is taking out a victory rally in this area on Saturday. He has expressed apprehension that violence may take place during this period as well.

Tripura has a long history of violence between workers of political parties. In the recently held elections, BJP has defeated the alliance of Left parties and Congress here. BJP alliances have won in the elections held in Nagaland, Tripura and Meghalaya in the Northeast.

On the other hand, Congress MP from Assam, Abdul Khaliq said that three-four vehicles of the party have been damaged in this attack. He has alleged that the police did nothing. Abdul Khaliq said that we realized that there is no law and order here.

Left and Congress MPs from Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu arrived in Tripura to find out the extent of violence alleged to have taken place since the poll results on March 2. The MPs, divided into three teams, visited different parts of the districts of Sepahijala, Gomati, West Tripura, Khowai, and Dhalai.

The CPI(M) said the joint team of the Left and the Congress were visiting various violence-hit areas of West Tripura, Sepahijala and Khowa.

The fact-finding team is expected to stay in the state till March 12 after which it will submit a report and the issue will be raised in the next Parliament session, which will begin on March 13, CPI MP Binoy Viswam had tweeted on Thursday.
