Nampally High Court today passed a crucial judgment on the star couple Jeevitha and Rajasekhar. The court sentenced one year in jail for them and in addition 5 lakhs of fine. The judgment is regarding the comments passed by the couple on Chiranjeevi Blood Bank in the year 2011. Star producer and brother-in-law of Chiranjeevi, Allu Aravind filed a case against the star couple after the comments were passed.
Jeevitha and Rajasekhar were in the Congress party and Chiranjeevi launched the Praja Rajyam party. To criticize Chiranjeevi, they alleged that blood from Chiranjeevi’s blood bank is being sold in the black market and Chiranjeevi is making money out of it. Allu Aravind who was a key member of the Praja Rajyam party filed a defamation case.
After 12 years, the verdict was passed and they were sentenced to jail. The court, however, granted bail immediately. The couple can appeal in a higher court.
