Wriddhiman Saha intimidation case: BCCI bans journalist Boria Majumdar

The BCCI has revealed its verdict on Cricketer Wriddhiman Saha and Kolkata-based Boria Majumdar. The board has decided to hand Boria Majumdar a ban for 2 years which means he will not get press accreditation for domestic or international matches in India. Not only that, he will not get any interviews from the registered players and there will not be any access to cricket facilities owned by BCCI or the state associations or its members.

In February, after Saha was axed from the test side, Boria requested Saha for an interview to which the cricketer didn’t respond. Boria’s tone then changed. Saha posted a screenshot in which the journalist threatened, “You did not call. Never again will I interview you. I don’t take insults kindly. And I will remember this. This wasn’t something ypu [sic] should have done.”

Three-member BCCI committee had spoken to both Saha and Boria and came to a conclusion that Boria Majumdar’s actions were indeed in the nature of threat and intimidation.
