Chasing a par total of 297 runs, New Zealand was 88/3 at one stage and India was well ahead in the game. However, Tom Latham joined Kane Williamson in the chase and changed the momentum completely. Latham looked confident from ball one. While the duo strategically went for the chase, India had no answers.
Umran Malik, the speedster was impressive in his first spell by picking up two wickets. Later on, he went for runs along with Arshdeep and Shardul. Washington Sundar was economical but he couldn’t pick any wickets. Shardul gave away 25 runs in one over which changed the momentum completely.
Kane and Latham had an unbeaten partnership where they scored 94 and 145 respectively. Tom Latham was adjudged man of the match. With this win, NZ went ahead 1-0 in the series.
