The City Nature Challenge (CNC) began on Friday, April 26, with 675 cities across seven continents participating. It’s a global event that encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to explore nature using apps like iNaturalist. Participants take photos of plants, animals, fungi, and more in the wild. The challenge ends on April 29.
From April 30 to May 5, online communities will work together to identify the species captured. The results, including the total number of observations worldwide, will be announced on May 6.
Last year, Hyderabad participated in the CNC for the first time and ranked 12th globally and first among Indian cities out of 33. Anyone interested can join this initiative by visiting https://www.citynaturechallenge.org/ for more information.
