BCCI has today announced the 15-men squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 which is set to happen later this year. The selection happened on expected lines as the prominent players from the current Asia Cup made it to the cut. There was a three-way tussle for the middle-order spot between Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Sanju Samson. As Tilak Varma is new to the big picture he was not picked and Sanju Samson once again got unlucky.
Among the bowlers, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah made it to the squad while Shardul Thakur has been picked as the bowling allrounder. Hardik Pandya, the Vice-Captain is the batting allrounder.
Kuldeep Yadav is the lone wristspinner. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are the other spin options. Yuzvendra Chahal was once again ignored. There are no doubts over KL Rahul’s inclusion. Ishan Kishan who has shown promise has been picked as the wicketkeeper backup option.
