Former Zimbabwe Cricketer Andy Flower has been appointed as the new head coach for the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. He will replace Mike Hesson whose tenure with the franchise ended. He served as the director of cricket operations for RCB.

The contracts of remaining members of the RCB support staff, including head coach Sanjay Bangar, have also been extended. The franchise officially stated, “Andy has coached the international and franchise cricket teams for over a decade and in that time has won PSL, The Hundred, ILT20, and T10. He went on to be a hugely successful coach for England. He is also the first player from Zimbabwe to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.”

There is a huge potential for AB de Villiers, who greatly contributed to the franchise’s success, to collaborate with Flower as a mentor. An official confirmation in this regard is awaited. Andy Flower previously served as the coach with the Lucknow Super Giants.
