Story:
Veerayya (Samuthirakani) is a physically challenged person living in a slum area. He runs a Sulabh complex for a living and has a son Raju whose only dream is to board a flight. He is a brilliant student but Veerayya discovers something terrible about his son.
What does he do then? Will Raju’s dream gets fulfilled?
Performances:
Samuthirakani who is playing villainous roles in Telugu films has played a different role in this movie. His honesty is evident in every frame. The role itself is simple and doesn’t deviate from the goal. Samuthirakani portrayed his character very well. Master Dhruvan impresses completely in the role of Raju. His innocence is shown brilliantly. Anasuya Bharadwaj plays Sumathi, a prostitute. She delivers a strong performance in her limited role.
Rahul Ramakrishna, Dhanraj, and Meera Jasmine will be seen in important roles. The others have done their parts well.
Technicalities:
Director Siva Prasad took a simple point and weaved emotions around it. While the writing is neat, the narration could have been way better. The screenplay could have been a little tighter as well. Vivek Kalepu has worked as the cinematographer and he does an excellent job. The editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is neat. The production values are commendable.
Charan Arjun’s music is vital for the movie. The emotional sequences were connected quite well with the BGM.
Analysis:
Vimanam is a simple story with the right amount of emotions weaved around it. The father-son bond in the film was conceived quite well. However, the narration is quite uneven in the second half of the film. Vimanam’s screenplay is quite uneven as well and slow-paced which might not appeal to all sections of viewers. Samuthirakani and Master Dhruvan are the main highlights of the film. Overall, Vimanam hasn’t got all the substances to have a safe takeoff.
