Bimbisara movie review – decent time portal drama

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram after a long gap came up with the movie Bimbisara. It is a high-budget socio-fantasy drama. The promos of the film are engaging. Let us check out the review.

Story:
Bimbisara (Nandamuri Kalyan Ram) is a cruel king of Tirgartala kingdom. In a surprising move, he somehow gets a portal to the current times. The rest of the story is all about how Bimbisara gets adjusted to today’s world. Will he change? On the first note, how did he manage to time travel?

Performances:
Bimbisara is undoubtedly Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s one-man show. It takes time to adjust to his new mannerisms and the way of dialogue delivery but once he gets registered it is a smooth ride. Kalyan Ram rediscovered himself as an actor. He has given his best.

Catherine Tresa and Samyuktha Menon are the female leads. However, they haven’t got meaty roles. At that point, none of the other characters have got registered roles. They came and go. Srinivasa Reddy impresses to an extent in the comedy avatar. The rest all are fine.

Technicalities:
Technically, Bimbisara is brilliant. MM Keeravani’s background score is the life of the movie. However, the songs could have been better, and so are the placements of the songs. The editing is fine. Chota K Naidu brilliantly captured the sequences. His every frame impresses us.

The production values are top-notch and the producer needs to be commended for his braveness. Newcomer Vasshist takes up an interesting subject and the way he handled the subject should be appreciated. It is a good start for him. However, the lack of a strong antagonist haunts us while watching the film.

Analysis:
Bimbisara is a well-made time travel socio-fantasy flick. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has rocked the show. The lack of other strong characters and antagonists might be a negative point. The climax could have been handled better. On the bright side, Bimbisara engages in the majority part.
