Vijayashanthi has faced a huge setback in the Telangana high court today. Vijayashanthi challenged the decision of the TRS government decision to auction government’s lands in Telangana. The court dismissed the petition filed by Vijayashanthi.

KCR government has decided to auction the government’s lands to private firms to raise funds. The recent auction took place in Kokapet and Khanamet in 2021 and these auctions fetched the KCR government nearly Rs. 2,000 Cr. Various Real Estate Companies have bought lands at a rate of Rs. 50 Crores per acre.

HMDA and TSICC have conducted the auction. Vijayashanthi has filed a petition stating to stop the government’s actions. “If the government continues to auction lands there will be no lands available with the government in future to allocate for schools, hospitals, other various purposes” Vijayashanthi stated in the petition. However, Telangana high court has dismissed the petition stating that there are no provisions in the law that support government selling lands is faulty.
