It is all set for the Atmakuru by-elections. The elections came because of the sudden demise of YSRCP leader Mekapati Gowtham Reddy. The YSRCP fielded his brother Vikram Reddy for the by-elections which are set to take place on June 23rd.
As a common practice followed by the political parties in the Telugu States, both Jana Sena and Telugu Desam aren’t contesting in the by-elections as the leading party has given ticket to demised candidates’ family member.
However, BJP and almost a dozen individuals are contesting. BJP has campaigned extensively by bringing in national leaders. But it is almost evident that the ruling party will keep its constituency. Mekapati family has a clear edge in the area.
2.08 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes and 1,300 personnel will be on the election duty. The counting will happen on June 26th at Andhra Engineering College at Atmakuru.
