Five States Polls: Election Commission’s key announcement

The Central Election Commission has started the assembly election process in five states. Election Commission has recently completed the elections in Karnataka. Now, The term of assemblies of Telangana, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan will be completed by January next year. With this, the Central Election Commission expects to hold elections for these five state legislatures by the end of this year.

The Election Commission on Friday issued a circular to the Chief Secretaries and Chief Electoral Officers of the respective states regarding the transfers and postings of officials involved in election duties. It has been directed to ensure that no official who is directly involved in election duties works in their own districts. As per the circular, those who have been working in the same district for three years in the last four years, and those who are going to complete three years by January 31, 2024, should also be transferred. It has issued instructions to complete the transfer process and submit the report by July 31.

Mizoram: 17th December 2023
Chhattisgarh: 3rd January 2024
Madhya Pradesh: 06th January 2024
Rajasthan: 14th January 2024
Telangana: 16th January 2024
