In a huge setback to the Andhra Pradesh police, technology service provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has withdrawn the services owing to pending bills for the past three years. As a result, the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) went down in many districts leaving the Police department without services.

CCTNS is a technological tool for the Police as it integrates data from more than 15K Police Stations across the nation. The collection of information, storage, analysis, retrieval, and transfer of information is just a click away with the use of CCTNS. TCS signed MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government in the year 2012 and since then the tool became an integral part of the investigation for the Police department.

Now, as the government hasn’t cleared the bills for the past three years, TCS has decided to withdraw its services. With the exit of TCS, the maintenance of this system became extremely difficult for the department and complaints already came from many districts.
