The multiple devastating earthquakes that happened a few days back in Turkey and Syria have caused havoc. Thousands of buildings have collapsed leaving thousands dead. The death toll keeps on piling up as the people were stuck under the rubble for long hours.

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Turkey’s southern province of Kahramanmaras followed by a magnitude 6.4 quake a few minutes later in the country’s southern province of Gaziantep and a magnitude 7.6 earthquake at Kahramanmaras province.

The death toll from the multiple earthquakes takes the count to 21,000. Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay stated that 17,674 died in the earthquakes and 1,678 people were killed in the government-held areas and another 2,190 were killed in the opposition-held region, stated the media reports.

International search and rescue teams landed in Turkey and Syria rushed to the quake-impacted zone and started assistance.
