It is very well known that the controversial director Ram Gopal Varma has tweeted about the Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu. He tweeted, “If Draupadi is the President who are the Pandavas? And more importantly, who are the Kauravas?’
This tweet hasn’t been taken lightly and cases are being registered against the filmmaker. After a case was registered in Telangana, now UP Police have also registered a case against Varma after receiving a complaint from a social worker Manoj Singh. The case has been filed at Hazratganj Police Station.
The person who registered the complaint said that the religious sentiments were hurt by the tweet and he has also said that the tweet is a deliberate attempt to vitiate the atmosphere which may lead to untoward incidents. Varma has been booked under sections 295A, 501, 505 1(b), and 509 of the Indian Penal Codes.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Central zone, Raghvendra Mishra said that the investigation will be conducted and the statement will be taken from Ram Gopal Varma.
