Vishal’s Laththi movie review – underwhelming cop drama

Starring: Vishal, Sunaina, Prabhu, Ramana,
Director: A Vinoth Kumar
Producers: Ramana and Nandaa
Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Vishal has a decent fan following in the Telugu States as well. He comes up generally with thrillers or intense action dramas. Vishal’s latest cop drama Laththi has created interest with the intriguing promos. Let us check out the review.

Story:

Murali Krishna (Vishal) is a sincere Police Constable. He gives Laththi treatment to a rape suspect and gets suspended. However, he rejoins the duty with the help of DIG Kamal (Prabhu). DIG in turn asks the favor of beating the shit out of Veera (Ramana), son of Don Sura (Sunny PN).

This act brings huge problems for Murali Krishna and his family. How did he come over that? What happens next??

Performances:

Vishal, like always, gives an honest performance. This is like a sleepwalk role for Vishal. He gives his best in Laththi. However, he must understand that his roles are getting that monotony feeling.

Sunaina will be seen as Vishal’s wife. She is good in her role. Prabhu’s role is more of a cameo. The artists who played the antagonist didn’t make any impact. The design of their characters is the problem. The remaining actors are okay in their respective roles.

Technicalities:

Firstly, Laththi fails at the story itself. It is bland and too predictable. The background music work by Sam CS is good. It helped to elevate particular key scenes in the movie. Songs come in as fillers and do no good. The cinematography is alright. The editing could have been better as the lag feel is evident throughout the movie.

Particularly, as said in the interviews the last 40 minutes look good in parts but it was stretched forever and is one dimensional. The production values are okay. Director has handled the routine story in a mediocre way.

Analysis:

Laththi is another failed attempt by Vishal. This film has no potential to do good in the Telugu States. Vishal’s wait for the hit continues. The routine story and uninteresting narration make this a tiresome watch. The hyped 40 minutes is the only saving grace to some extent. Keeping that aside, Laththi is hard to bear.
