Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan urged for the completion of the Polavaram irrigation project by 2027, considering it a significant challenge. Speaking at a gathering in Polavaram, he mentioned discussions with central government officials who highlighted the complexities of the rehabilitation package compared to project completion.

The Polavaram project affects 1.65 lakh displaced individuals, which is crucial for the livelihoods of around five crore people in the state.

Pawan Kalyan suggested a special cess contributed by the state’s five crore residents to fund the rehabilitation package, offering a personal donation of Rs 1 crore to initiate this effort. He estimated that a nominal one-paise cess on purchases could amass the required Rs 33,000 crore in six months.

He criticized the current government’s neglect of project oustees and promised district headquarters status for Polavaram if his alliance comes to power. He also warned against reelecting Jagan Mohan Reddy, highlighting the need to combat political corruption and punish those who misappropriated public funds.
