Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections 2024: 2387 candidates contesting for 175 constituencies across the state

2,387 candidates are contesting for the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly, and 454 candidates are running for the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. The Election Commission reported that 318 candidates withdrew from the Assembly polls and 49 withdrew from the Lok Sabha polls before the withdrawal deadline on April 29.

A total of 2,705 nominations were accepted for the Assembly elections, while 503 nominations were approved for the Lok Sabha elections. The voting for both the Assembly and Lok Sabha is set for May 13.

The Tirupati Assembly segment has the most candidates with 46, followed by 40 in Mangalagiri, and the Chodavaram constituency has the fewest candidates with only six. Similarly, the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency has 33 candidates, Nandyal has 31, and Guntur has 30.

Over 4.08 million eligible voters, including a significant number of women, will cast their votes. The main contest is between the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Jana Sena Party (JSP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
